What an awesome place!

This was not our first holiday to Bangtao Beach, but it was the first where we tried villa accommodation instead of the usual resort choices. Easy transfer to and from airport. The villa is well designed and cleanly and tastefully decorated. A great open plan layout in the main living/dining/kitchen area and a huge balcony, which made a great spot to sit and watch an afternoon thunderstorm roll through to cool things down. Air-con and ceiling fans provide a choice on how to keep cool inside and our family of five was comfortably accommodated in the two bedrooms. Finding a Tesco’s a short ride/drive away and the fully optioned kitchen made the self-catering option very easy, which we used for breakfast and sometimes lunch, and also for enjoying a bottle of wine on the balcony to round the evenings out. The grounds are well kept - the swimming pool is definitely a plus and was used a lot – and the management staff were friendly and efficient. There is also a security guard on duty 24/7. The walk to the beach is straightforward and the beach is white sand, clean water and great views. Dining options are plentiful and we made good use of the many beachfront restaurants serving a good selection of Thai and western. Most have a happy hour at sunset for cocktails, which shouldn’t be missed. Car and motor scooter hire can be arranged locally on the beach or nearby and provide a cheap means of exploring more. Highly recommended and will be making a return visit.

Casuarina Shores apartments situated near the southern end of Bangtao beach in Phuket are about 25 minutes drive from the international airport. My family of four have had the pleasure of staying there twice over the past four months and we have had a fabulous time on both occasions. The clean, sleek lines and uncluttered layout of the complex gives an immediate sense of calm and space. The second floor apartment is well designed with two large bedrooms, separate bathrooms and toilets as well as excellent storage space. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors open to a very large balcony that overlooks neat and well maintained tropical vegetation with a large curved swimming pool in the background. There is definitely a sense of the outdoors coming in when sitting in both the main lounge and balcony areas in this apartment enjoying the peace and changing light from early morning through to twilight. With a clean well designed lap pool, management office and small gym situated opposite, you are virtually next door to all of these modern new facilities. The main beach, a 5 minute walk, is large with plenty of room for long walks, swimming, snacking at a multitude of local eateries or going upmarket at several of the well established and respected hotel chains tucked along and slightly back from the shoreline. Having spent several years travelling within Thailand at various locations, what appeals to me the most about this location and complex is the sheer sense of relaxation, only a stone’s throw from the variety of activities on offer along the beach or at the next beach of Surin with its array of restaurants and boutique shops.
